Coming Together As A BEC

"BEC's are giving me permission to say 'hello' to people. It helped me realise that the church is about reaching out to people. It has given me a freedom to approach others and get to know them which is something Catholics do not do very easily. It has made me more confident to say 'hello' and as you hear more people's stories and find out more about them, you can ask about how things are going in their lives."

Coming together as a BEC is very important especially to enrich a common commitment to outreach missionary works and services. Being part of a BEC is essential not only to build community at a more basic level but also to further foster collaboration amongst members towards a great communal dimension in the Catholic faith as one family. BECs are centres for complete Christian formation. The monthly BEC Reflection Paper encourages life issues to be brought forth and discussed in the light of the Gospel. Belonging to a community calls us to share and place our talents at the service of others as how Jesus formed a community that would be a sign of his love for the universe. Whatever differences should be kept aside; instead we should unite to come together and be a living sign of God's presence in today's world. And this virtue can only be practised in our BECs promoting towards a NEW WAY of Belonging to God and a NEW WAY of Being Church.

BEC PRAYER GATHERING AND HOUSE BLESSING

Rosary Prayers and BEC Gathering

On the 28th of October, Rev. Fr. Andrew conducted rosary prayers at Madam Fatima's residence. The response was quite good as we had students participating especially those of whom were about to sit for their SPM examination. Nevertheless, Father and the rest of the BEC members took the opportunity to pray for these young souls as they face their major hurdle in preparing and sitting for their examinations. It was a fruitful session for everyone as we also took the chance to pray for those who were going through difficult times.

Another fruitful gathering at our fourth BEC gathering with the presence of Rev. Fr. Andrew.

It was truly a warm and worthy session with the families who made their commitment prevail. We had an in-house guitarist that played the tunes to our worship and praise session accompanied by fellowship, thence to a simple but fulfilling mouth-watering delights. A number of matters were discussed pertaining to the SFA Carnival and the forthcoming BEC Mass. Members also brought forth suggestions of inviting the unknown Catholic families to our BEC so that we can grow further and achieve our aims towards a strengthful worship session.

We had successfully held our second BEC gathering yesterday with the presence of Rev. Fr. Valentine. It was a fun-filled and nourished session with the families who made their commitment prevail by attending the gathering and also bringing in new members to join in the praise and worship session. Looking forward to more in the future.
