We had successfully held our second BEC gathering yesterday with the presence of Rev. Fr. Valentine. It was a fun-filled and nourished session with the families who made their commitment prevail by attending the gathering and also bringing in new members to join in the praise and worship session. Looking forward to more in the future.

February 10, 2010 - BEC St Scholastica zone was initiated by Rev. Fr. Andrew Manickam for Catholic families living in and around the areas of Cheras Hartamas, Taman Bukit Segar, Taman Bukit Segar Jaya, Taman Segar Perdana and Bukit Hatamas.

In brief ...
Scholastica was dedicated to God from a young age. She was the twin sister of St Benedict of Nursia. The most commonly told story about her is that she would, once a year, go and visit her brother at a place near his abbey, and they would spend the day worshiping together and discussing sacred texts and issues. Her memorial is 10 February. Scholastica is the patron saint of nuns, convulsive children, and is invoked against storms and rain.
The name St Scholastica came about because the first BEC gathering for this zone fell on the feast day of the Catholic Saint. The purpose of having the BEC gathering is to praise and worship God together as a holy community, to share and exchange views on the word of God and also to get to know one another and to bring back Catholic individuals and families who have drifted away.
With the formation and assistance from both Rev. Fr. Valentine Gompok and Rev. Fr. Andrew Manickam, lets make our presence as a BEC that is here to stay and reach out to all Catholics out there. Amen!
